OWN to Pitch New Program at SVP Fast Pitch 2015

Category : Calendar & Events

On October 7, OneWorld Now! Executive Director Jennifer Tanaka gave a 5-minute pitch alongside 28 semi-finalists of the SVP Fast Pitch competition. The stakes: the chance to present at the 2015 SVP Fast Pitch Final Showdown on October 27th and the potential to win funding. Jennifer pitched OneWorld Now!’s latest innovation – the Global Leader Virtual Exchange Program. OWN  will adapt its award-winning global leadership curriculum for online exchanges, giving more US high school students opportunities to learn with peers from China and the broader Middle East. Through this new initiative OneWorld Now! will scale its social impact giving 20 times more students a broader understanding of themselves in the world, while accelerating people-to-people diplomacy in critical regions of the world.   Over much deliberation and difficult decisions, the SVP Fast Pitch judges recognized the potential of the Global Leader Virtual Exchange Program and OneWorld Now! advanced to the Final Showdown. Jennifer will bring the OneWord Now! vision to the stage at McCaw Hall on October 27, along with 13 other innovative organizations. Winners will be selected in the categories of best established nonprofit, best startup nonprofit and best for-profit pitches. There is also a separate youth competition for high school and college students. Finalists will pitch to a panel of eminent judges and impact investors for the opportunity to win a portion of $375,000 in grants and investments. The audience will have the opportunity to vote and pick who receives thousands of dollars in Audience Choice awards. Check out these videos from last year’s event where winners took home a portion of $300k in grants and investments. Come show your support! Join us on October 27 as we cheer on Jennifer and help us spread the word about OneWorld Now! and our new Global Leader Virtual Exchange Program. Buy your tickets here. There is a Friends & Family Discount Code on tickets. Enter discount code FF-2015-25 at check-out. This code is only valid until 10/25 at noon so grab your tickets ASAP.
