OWN alum Ronald McGrew’s message about hope and representation

“I’m not a leader, I’m a Black man.”

That’s what OWN alum Ronald McGrew first thought when friends asked him to join the OneWorld Now! Leadership program as a teenager. He joined anyway–and was transformed. In this powerful speech delivered virtually at the 2020 OneWorld Now! Global Leader event, Ronald shares his journey from a struggling adolescent to a leader proud of his identity as a Black, gay, Christian man.

OneWorld Now! “kick-started me seizing my life back,” says Ronald.  “If you don’t see yourself represented in the areas you want to be in, be that person,” he adds. “That’s what I’m trying to do.”
