Seven ways to celebrate International Education Week

While we like to think every week of the year is International Education Week here at OneWorld Now!, we can’t help but get excited for the many events and buzz surrounding the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ annual week dedicated to celebrating international education and exchange worldwide. International Education Week is November 17 to 21, 2014 and we’ve rounded up a list of opportunities worth checking out. Whether you are an educator or a student, IEW 2014 has something for everyone.

Attend a local IEW event. Search the IEW’s online calendar for events in your community and join fellow global leaders to talk about language, leadership, study abroad and the importance of international education.

Join the online Global Education Conference. From November 17 to 21, participate in a virtual conference that brings together educators and innovators from around the world. Here are a few sessions (out of hundreds) that OneWorld Now! is looking forward to:

Global Collaboration: The Student Perspective
Building and Maintaining a Virtual Global Community: Global Partners in Education
From Empathy to Action: Assessing your Social Justice Impact
Get Social! For the social media savvy, follow and join the online conversation about International Education Week using #IEW2014 on Twitter and Facebook.

Finally, find small ways in your everyday life to “get global” and reflect on why international education matters to you.

Start learning a new language
Read a book from an international author
Get a passport and start thinking beyond borders for your next adventure
Have you studied abroad? Dig out your photo album and share will us on Facebook
